March 2013 update

Another day, another update, specially on the search side of Pricenoia.

  • Improved search results for relevance.

  • improved filters in search: You can now click to filter not just by sections but also go deep into categories.

  • Clicking on the author or manufacturer of a product, under the name in search results will now filter the search to just that author/manufacturer results.

  • You can search by the Amazon URL of the product, just copy and paste it in the search form. And of course you can still search by ASIN, EAN, ISBN, or just plain old name of the product, author, etc :)

  • You can search using search operators, such as “”, *, !, ? or (); and boolean operators, thanks to lucene (more info).

We’ve also made some tweaks to the product page:

  • ‘Discount’ column in the price comparison table: It shows how the price is discounted on Amazon compared to the retail price of the product in that country.

There are many things on the pipeline! You can contact us using our contact form if you have any suggestions for new features!

Twitter trends

We are just experimenting with tracking shared Amazon products on twitter.. for now we are listing the last hour trend on the home page, but will add more info to the site in the next days..

February 2013 update

We’re back with some cool updates!!

  • Price statistics: We track prices so we can now tell you the maximum and minimum prices in the last months, its average and standard deviation. Prices have also now a color code showing if it’s the best or worst price seen in its history (with 1y+ info right now) or it’s above, below or around the average price seen. Mouse over to know what a color code means!
  • Price tracking with email alerts! You can now track the price of a product. Pricenoia will send you an email if the price drops (any drop or below anything you set). You can keep track of any amazon locale you want, for any type of product (new, used, third party), with or without shipping costs. When the price changes you’ll get an email, with the info and a link to unsubscribe or change the alert options.

The tracking feature is on the works, so expect some improvements in the following weeks!
  • Some Improvements on the graphic evolution of prices: We show more data points, and you can now change the period. Available periods are 3 months, 1 month and 7 days.

And some small stuff like an extended search on every amazon store (press the link under the search results)…

As always, please feel free to contact us to report issues or suggest features you’ll like to see!! Thank’s for being there!

March 2012 update

We added some new stuff in the last days:

  • Amazon China : Now you can see the price of products from the Amazon China store
  • Availability in ES, IT, CN stores is now shown directly in search results (the list of flags on the right)
  • Other formats and versions: When you are looking a product (mostly books), we show alternate versions, old editions, etc.. This includes Kindle version if available (sorry, no price for Kindle version, so no ebook comparison)
  • Price evolution graph for new products: A classic of good old Pricenoia, returns bigger and showing price evolution in every country, in your currency. Price evolution graph uses original country price info and todays exchange rates, so it does not take into consideration currency fluctuations, just original price changes.

Check it out with that example: Steve Jobs : A Biography

Manually select country of shipping

We’ve done a little update following a couple of suggestions from users:

1-You can now select the shipping country. We autodetect the country but if for some reason we are not accurate, or you need to send the products as a gift to another country, or you use a VPN, now you can just manually pick the country. We had this feature in the first version of Pricenoia, now it’s back!

2-If the product benefits from free shipping, now we show it. Some european countries can benefit from Super Saver Delivery, so remember to select it when ordering if available.

As always, we’re open to your suggestions and will try to implement some of them!

New pricenoia Version, New countries available

Here we are, again! We are working on a new version that is currently live at http://www.pricenoia.com! It’s a beta, so there are several options that are not fully working yet.
We have included in the price comparison two new amazon stores that are available now, Italy and Spain!

Those new countries have no API but as we did in the past we are getting the info anyway, so you now can see prices from US, CA, UK, FR, DE, JP, ES and IT, including the updated currency conversion and prices including shipping, for new, used and third parties.

We have many ideas, so stay tunned. If you have any comment or ideas, please use our contact form.
